110 Years to-morrow

110 years ago tomorrow my Father Lawrence Craven was born. He always said that he was born in Wensley Bank West in the village of  Clayton a suburb of Bradford West Yorkshire Strangely enough his birth Certificate says that he was born in Albert Street Clayton. He was a man of great talents. In those days before decimal currency they had pennies, with twelve pennies equal to one shilling, and shillings equal to twenty shillings to the pound. That made two hundred & forty pence to the a pound. He was the only person I ever met who used to add up all three columns at once. Most people would add up the pennies, divide by twelve and call the remainder pennies. Then add up the shillings, divide by twenty call them Pounds. He was wonderful magician some of his tricks he taught me. He had a wonderful turn of phrase. For example he always said that whilst he wore the trousers in their home, Edith my mother always told him when to put them on and take them off. He once had problems with the electricity supply to our home. After writing and telephoning many times to the electricity board and getting no response. He rang them up & said don't bother coming, I have connected a meccano strip across the terminals and everything now works well. Needless to say they were there within the next two and a half hours. I still remember his arm number 14661222 which for those of my friends & relation who don't like it, is exactly divisible by 3 What I hadn't realised until recently was that the difference in ages between him and his youngest brother edwin was 8 and a half years.
