MISCHIEF NIGHT

Traditionally especially in Yorkshire, the 4th of November is mischief night, The best bit of mischief which we ever play in my childhood, was when door had snecks, More correctly known as Suffolk Latches. To gain entry you used to have to press your thumb on brass Finger piece. Our trick was to firstly put a drawing pin onto the sneck and then surround it with horse manure, As sure as eggs are eggs, the poor person trying to gain entry would firstly press his or her finger on the latch. When the pin pricked his or her finger   they would put it straight in their mouths, horse muck & all
